Sula Vineyards Celebrated in Cannes with The Flying Winemaker

This week at the Cannes TV-festival Eddie McDougall The Flying Winemaker introduced television network executives, distributors, buyers and producers to a delicious Rose from India, the 2012 Sula Zinfandel Rose.


As guests sipped fine Indian-produced Rose on the French Riviera, Eddie McDougall shared tasting notes and educated the VIP’s about the premium wines being produced by Sula Vineyards.


The event was held at the Majestic Hotel in Cannes and part of the international launch of The Flying Winemaker TV-Series (13×30) produced by WD Entertainment Group and distributed worldwide by ABC Commercial.


The launch also announced The Flying Winemaker television broadcast deal with Discovery Channel Asia Pacific.


Sula Zinfandel Rose is produced in Nashik Valley, located 180km’s from Bombay and regarded as one of India’s finest wine valleys. Sula Vineyards have been producing wines since 2000 and their extensive range of wines are now available around the world.
The 2012 Sula Zinfandel Rose was one of four Rose’s showcased at the event, alongside Chandon Rose NV, Nyetimber Rose 2008, and Eddie McDougall’s own Little Pig Rose.


Special thanks to Nikhil Agarwal, Sommelier and Director of All Things Nice, the renowned food and drink specialist from Bombay who connected The Flying Winemaker to Sula Wines and played a pivotal role promoting fine Indian wine at the prestigious event in Cannes.

Friday’s ‘Night of Premieres’ delivered series highs for “Gravity Falls” and “Code 9,” and all-new episodes of “My Babysitter’s A Vampire,” “A.N.T. Farm” and “Jessie,” handily vaulting Disney Channel to rank as cable TV’s #1 network in Prime in Total Viewers (2.99 million), towering over #2 network SyFy by a hefty 38% (2.17 million).  Disney Channel was also TV’s #1 network in Kids 2-11 (1.89 million/4.6 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.54 million/6.3 rating)and Tweens 9-14 (1.27 million/5.3 rating).

  • At 9:30 p.m., Code 9” posted series highs in Total Viewers (3.41 million), Kids 2-11 (2.12 million/5.2 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.76 million/7.2 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.52 million/6.3 rating).

On-air Wes’ experience is vast and impressive. Wes began earning his television chops as host of Network Ten’s award winning national program Totally Wild from 2004-2008, were he quickly established himself as a favourite amongst television audiences. He has been host of Kick2Kick (a national kids AFL show), sports newsreader on Network Ten’s First at Five News, Celebrity Chef on Ready, Steady, Cook and a co-host for the 2008 Sydney Live New Years Eve telecast. 


A recipient of the Australian Antarctic Arts Fellowship, Wes co-produced and presented a six-part series filmed in Antarctica in 2006/07. This series was awarded with a nomination for a TV Week Logie Award for Most Outstanding Children’s show in 2008 and finalist for the 2007 Enhance TV ATOM Awards for Best Children’s Television Series. Wes has also hosted two documentaries and reported live from the boundary line for the AFL, reported for Australian Women’s PGA and appeared on shows including Rove Live, 9AM with David & Kim and Good Morning Australia.


Moving to New York City in 2008, Wes has also hosted a magazine-style entertainment series for SONY Entertainment (In the Qube) that broadcasts across 60 countries worldwide in 2010. And since 2009 has been the host of StarQuest International Performing Arts Competition, a role that spun Wes to different U.S. states each week, performing live in-front of American audiences with the same warmth and charm he is renowned for at home.


Inspired by unique lifestyle few knew existed, back in 2008 Wes created, developed and produced “The Stafford Brothers Series” with Matt and Chris Stafford, and has been shot across more than 16-international locations including Ibiza, New York, Mykonos, Los Angeles, London, Marbella, Germany and Australia.
